ARIZONA
Scottsdale: The Basset Ball 2010, September 25, 2010
September 25, 2010 in Scottsdale, AZ. Arizona Basset Hound Rescue (AZBHR), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is hosting the Basset Ball 2010 to benefit abused, neglected and abandoned Basset Hounds. This special event will be held on September 25, 2010 in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Basset Ball will feature silent and live auction items to raise money to help save the Hounds! In 2009 we took in 60 dogs from one puppy mill in Arizona.
CALIFORNIA
San Luis Obispo County: 2nd Annual Wine 4 Paws, April 10-11, 2010
Visit participating wineries throughout SLO County the weekend of April 10th-11th to help raise funds and awareness for Woods Humane Society while enjoying our beautiful wine region! Pet loving wine drinkers can help our four-legged friends by visiting ANY of the participating wineries the weekend of the 10th ˆ 11th when a portion of the weekends‚ proceeds will be donated to Woods Humane Society.
Visit www.wine4paws.com for a complete list of participating wineries and to print a free map/passport to help plan the day's drive. No advance ticket purchase necessary - simply head out to the Wine 4 Paws wineries! Map/passports will also be available at the wineries. Get your passport stamped by 6 of our wineries during the weekend and you‚ll be entered to win prizes in the Wine 4 Paws raffle!
Each winery is different, some are pet friendly while others have livestock on the property and request that your pets are left in the car. Some will host special pet-friedly events, like Adelaida Cellars, who will have a dog show and cutest kitty contest!
LOUISIANA
Ruston: Ruston Parks and Recreation Department 4th Annual Furry Fun Walk, March 20, 2010
Saturday, March 20th at 9:00am. The community is encouraged to come out, with their dog on a leash, for a one mile noncompetitive stroll. After the walk, we will all gather in the "Barking Lot" which will be made up of several local pet vendors and services, veterinarians and plenty of giveaways. The City of Ruston's K-9 unit will be on hand to demonstration their searching abilities. Additionally, Sparky, the Fire Department mascot dog and the Louisiana Tech Bulldog mascot named Tech XX will be making the one mile walk with us. The morning is dedicated to getting outside and exercising with your furry friend as well as raising awareness about the adopting from our local non-profit shelters, 4 Paws Rescue, Inc and PAWSNELA.

TEXAS
Odessa: Odessa Jackalopes Dogs and Ice Night, March 9, 2010
Date: March 9, 2010 Game starts at 7:05 PM; Gates open at 6:00 PM. Location: Ector County Coliseum - 4201 Andrews Hwy. Odessa, TX 79762. Let your dog experience an Odessa Jackalopes Hockey Game courtesy of the Jackalopes, the Lone Star SPCA and Pet Mystique. The first 200 pooches will get a name tag courtesy of Pet Mystique. COme early to get four "four legged freinds" picture taken with a player and/or the mascot SlapJack. Participate in the pre-game "tail gate" activities. There will be vendors to treat your pooch too. Contests will include most Jacks spirit, longets tail, most in need of a bath and/or haircut, looks most like Central Hpckey League MVP Sebastien Thinel, etc. All dogs need a "pooch pass" where proceeds will go to the Lone Star SPCA. Bedford: Horse and Hound Wine Festival, July 10, 2010
Saturday, July 10, 2010, 11am to 6pm at Johnson's Orchards, 2122 Sheep Creek Rd, Bedford VA 24523. Virginia's most unique wine festival that has numerous events throughout the day with horses and dogs as the primary attractions such as the Parade of Horses, agility dogs and muskrat racing. Families enjoy this festival because it appeals to both young, old and dogs. The event takes place on the spacious and gracious grounds of Johnson's Orchards 2122 Sheep Creek Rd, Bedford Va 24523 with spectacular Blue Ridge mountain views. Part of the proceeds will benefit 501-3c organizations that benefit horses and dogs.
