Conveniently located in the center of the Cape on the ocean side, The Simmons Homestead truly reflects the spirit of old Cape Cod. Two minutes from the harbor and island ferries, the inn was built in 1820 by Lemuel Simmons, a somewhat famous sea captain, as the Simmons family homestead. It remained a private estate until 1987 when it was restored and converted into a wonderful country inn. The original wide pine floors have been refinished, as has all the original woodwork.

There are 12 guest bedrooms and a 2 bedroom suite, all with private bath. Two of the bedrooms have working fireplaces and one has a private deck. All are unique and beautifully furnished, some with canopy beds and brass beds. Each guest room is filled with plants and is decorated in an animal theme. Rates include a full breakfast, a wine social hour, free use of 10-speed bicycles, and billiards. There are fireplaces and a hot tub for the cooler months.

The Inn is a great place for dogs (people as well). At times there are more dogs than people at the evening wine hour. They have their own little get together. There is a big backyard to romp in, and Bill will let you know what nearby beaches won't arrest you for bringing a mutt onto the sand. Treat the dog the same as you would at home. Take them with you, or leave them in the room. The cleaning kids will get them out for a quick walk when they need to 'go."
