Local health codes mandate that pets be restricted from enclosed restaurants and suggest that they be kept out of open-air areas as well. Although pets are not permitted inside of a dining establishment, many restaurants with outdoor seating will allow people to dine outside with their pets. Not all outdoor restaurants allow pets so please be sure to confirm the restaurant's pet policy.

Our database of dog friendly restaurants was started by Caleb, an Australian Shepherd, who loves to travel and eat out with his humans Dale and Marilyn. Over the years many of Caleb's canine and human friends have added to the database with their own comments about the food, service, ambiance and general dog-friendliness.

A restaurant that is especially dog and pet friendly, one that goes out of its way to welcome pets at their establishment. Besides outdoor tables, maybe they have water or treats available or perhaps they even prepare that extra dish just for the canine diner.

A restaurant where pets are also welcome to dine with their humans, but perhaps with a little less fanfare than found at a 3 bones restaurant.

A restaurant that allows pets, and that's about it.
